In many countries especially here in new Zealand we take things like oil and food and water and most of the daily necessities you need to survive for granted, but now the oil rigs that we would thought would last forever are starting to run dry. Now companies like Anadarko are coming to New Zealand to drill down further than they have ever drilled before into our beautiful oceans and seas to start fresh and find more oil to import to countries all over the world. Not that many people realize the ripple effect that brings to us as a country. The damage that it would cause to our representation as a nation will cause us to lose thousands of dollars that we would usually make because of our famous tourism industry because of whale watching in Kaikoura and when the sound waves that are sent to the bottom of the sea floor will drive away all sea and wild life within a certain radius this will have a massive effect on the tourism industry in Kaikoura and it is known as one of New Zealands main attractions. With this gone it will effect the lives of families and companies all around new Zealand. I think that even though we consume oil like its water and its kind of our turn to supply it that we could change to more environmentally friendly options. if there was an oil spill, it would take 3 months to clean up all the oil not including all the clean up of all the dead animals and sea life. It would cost the government which means we have to pay more taxes it would cost a lot more in the long run than Anadarko or any oil drilling company would think. With all of this in mind I leave you with this : “When the Last Tree Is Cut Down, the Last Fish Eaten, and the Last Stream Poisoned, You Will Realize That You Cannot Eat Money”
